Axiom’s cemetery mapping is state of the art technology and is the most accurate GIS system on the international market, identifying the precise location of each and every gravesite, niche or memorial space in each cemetery location. The Charon cemetery maps are fully integrated and managed through the cemetery records module and furthermore, will accommodate the capacity to search for a cemetery map location either through the cemetery website and /or kiosk systems strategically located within the cemetery grounds. Furthermore, the ability to print a cemetery location map (either at the cemetery kiosk or over the web from a the family’s’ home) also specifies the surrounding 5 or 6 surrounding graves with names, so that even if the site does not have a marker or memorial, the grave can be located by referencing the names within a predefined from the site being searched.
Other features of Charon cemetery maps include the ability to apply an exact distance measurement between graves, roads and footpaths to plan for potential expansion and capacity within the cemetery. This can be further extrapolated to be a valuable tool in the managemet and placement of utilities throughout the grounds. A key operational function for any cemetery is to be able to manage their available inventory of available spaces for sale. Charon cemetery mapping colour codes any / all of the graves, niches, and crypts that are occupied, reserved or sold. This can be rolled out to a mobile device like a tablet, giving a truly dynamic tool for any cemetery salesperson to use in their day to day work with families.
A key feature of Charon Mapping is its ability to overlay a thematic cemetery map representation that starts at the cemetery overview level and allows drill-down to the grave level. This provides management with the visual ability to assess cemetery utilization. Optimizing the tight integration between the cemetery records and sales module with the cemetery map, inventory is immediately updated at the time of every transaction, providing accurate sales inventory to cemetery staff when serving their client families. Customer service is further enhanced by providing printable cemetery maps of the property at large, along with the portion and exact burial location, burial details and information regarding surrounding sites presented all on one page. With Axiom’s Cemetery Mapping solution, there are no delays, no redundancy and complete accuracy.
The Charon Mapping module uses MapInfo, a multi-layered Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping facility, to provide the following:

Due to the advanced technology base of Charon Mapping, GIS maps can now be provided on mobile devices via an additional Charon Mapping module – Charon Mobile Maps. This module puts the entire cemetery’s map on your handheld device and enables your staff to perform searches, view thematic (colour coded) maps without being confined to the office computer.
